In what ways have you reimagined your role as an agent of positive social change?
What are some ways you feel united to campus community?

I have used my culture- Mexican – to be able to encourage the younger generation to question everything while explaining their identity

Frida said “Be fearless”. This quote has help me with life gets challenging. Therefore, I am a role-model to my family, sister, cousins, peers and myself.

Seeds of diaspora are the people there are UIC – finding home IN places like the LCC through all of our different stories.

My role as an agent of change is important because it is something that affects me. Raising awareness about issues that affect everyone.

The different people that I have met have helped me through my stress, anger, sadness were there for me through my happiness

One role I feel unites me to the campus comm is identifying as a trans-woman of color. Though I represent, probably the 3% of student body that is trans, I push myself ti be a part of the comm because in a way I make up the diversity that is & our comm

UIC runs through my veins, my dad 2nd gen. Mexican went there and mom 1st gen worked here, my aunt, my brother, my cousins, my S.O., … me haha
So I feel connected because as a family of color + working class it was a good choice/ 2nd home

I have reimagined myself as the present and future change in society as a member of my community. I feel united to campus through engaging in that change as a community

I look around and see all negativity

So I walk around embodying only positivity

I am the change I want to see so I try to be the best version of me.
I connect to my community by spreading a sense of unity

I feel united to campus community by being involved in orgs that feel true to me and where I’m able to learn and grow.

I would hope that my actions and attitudes encourage the community and bridge the social divide that plagues communication

Because In Lak’ech
Tu eres mi otro yo, You are my other me
Si te hago daño a ti, If I do harm to you,
Me hago dano a mi mismo, I do harm to myself.
Si te amo y respeto, If I love and respect you,
Me amo y respeto yo, I love and respect myself.
