Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center, Mexican Students de Aztlan (MeSA), Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS), and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) for the first Noche de Poetas (Poetry Night) of the Fall 2012 semester. OPEN MIC! Don’t miss the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme, “Get Out The Vote.”

  • Would you like to bring more resources to your community?
  • Do you want elected officials to address the issues that matter to you?
  • Come and express YOUR “Get Out The Vote” poetry!

Leading the poetry will be our featured poet Xavier “Xavi” Luis Burgos. He is a first year doctoral student in Educational Policy Studies at UIC. His poetry touches on the issues of identity and politics.

*Did you know there are approximately 46 million youth eligible to vote in 2012? (www.civicyouth.org)

If you require any accommodations please contact us at least three days before the event.

Co-sponsors: UIC student organizations MeSA, UPRS, and SJP
