Indigenous Frames of Understanding
The Latino Cultural Center’s last public program of the Spring 2018 semester took place on April 26. The LCC, in partnership with the Freshwater Lab and Native American Support Program, invited Burton W. Warrington, an indigenous rights activist and attorney to highlight social and environmental justice. The topic focused around the Back Forty Mine and how dangerous it is to the communities who live by it. During his presentation he specified how this mine is a danger to public health, the Menominee River, and is also a sacred land to his communities.
