Zona Abierta: Erase the Gang Database
On October 16th, 2018 three guests speakers were invited to the Latino Cultural Center as part of our ongoing Zona Abierta series to talk about the growing issues relating to the Chicago Police Department’s gang database. Participants learned about the database and its use as a tool for the racial profiling and surveilling of black and brown Chicagoans. Guest speakers included the UIC Policing in Chicago Research Group, Black Youth Project 100, and Organized Communities Against Deportation.
