Mario Lucero graduated from UIC with a Master’s degree in Latin American and Latino Studies in 2013; and a BFA in Media Arts & Design in 2008 from the Illinois Institute of Art.
As an artist and educator, he believes that social justice art must be informed, strategic, and accessible—and always with an intersectional lens—in order to build critical consciousness within the Latinx community and beyond. For over ten years, Mario has been a community ally and advocate for social justice and equity across the spectrum, including at the intersection of cultural heritage and STEM education.
