Compared to girls, research shows that boys in the U.S. are more likely to be diagnosed with a behavior disorder, prescribed stimulant medications, fail out of school, binge drink, commit a violent crime, and/or take their own lives. Before the film, join our ongoing dialogues on various issues of masculinity. Dialogues are held at the UIC Latino Cultural Center, Lecture Center B2, from 12pm-1pm on the Thursdays of Feb. 5th & 19th, and March 5th.
The Reimagining Masculinity Initiative at UIC is a collaborative effort between the Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC) to provide a space for individuals–with a focus on men–to discuss issues of masculinity and intersecting identities, engage in candid dialogue about privilege, and explore ways for men to be thoughtfully involved in changing systems of oppression.
