Vandalized poster

On April 2, 2018, we found one of our Noche de Poetas (Poetry Night) posters, that was displayed on the lobby, vandalized by a neo-nazi group called Identity Evropa (IE). This is a group that opposes multiculturalism and promotes a white superiority ideology.

The vandalism was part of multiple incidents at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) campus throughout the Spring Break week. LCC students and staff developed a collective response to counter the message by saying “This will not stop us from supporting diversity” and posted “Hate is Not Supported at UIC” flyers made by the Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC) to support and affirm students’ diverse identities.
