A People’s Tour: Architecture & Activism at UIC

On February 13, the LCC partnered with Gallery 400 to take visitors on a tour of UIC’s east campus exploring the history of architecture and activism. The group started at Gallery 400 so visitors could see the exhibition about Felix Candela, an architect who taught at UIC in the mid-1970s. Traveling throughout campus, several stops highlighted stories along the way, before participants arrived at the Latino Cultural Center to warm up with hot cocoa and coffee from student organization Arquitectos. The last stop on the tour was the sculpture near the quad created in memory of Felix Candela, similar to his famous “shell” sculptures. Learn more about the tour here.
