I am the daughter of two immigrant parents. I thank them every time I reach an important milestone in my life. Without their decision of migrating to the US and the struggles they had to embark on I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be here standing up for those who struggle to move on. I’m not undocumented but I hurt when they hurt, I cheer when they do. My mom always told me that juntos como una familia, todo se puede. United we can do anything.
The Butterfly postcard campaign was developed by the UIC Latino Cultural Center in collaboration with student organizations Fearless Undocumented Alliance and Heritage Garden Student Group that highlights the parallels between the migration of people and Monarch butterflies across national borders.
