Don’t miss out on the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme “Domestic Violence Awareness.”

Leading the night will be our featured poet Janeida Rivera-Rodríguez, Queen of HP!

Why has domestic violence been overlooked, excused, or denied in our communities and society?
What can we do to counteract domestic violence and the effects it has in our families, our campus, and communities?

Queen of HP was born and raised in Humboldt Park, the heart of Puerto Rican Chicago. For more than 10 years she has performed as a spoken word poet/emcee in various communities nationally and internationally, and as an activist she has participated in queer organizing in high schools and universities, anti-gentrification programs, and efforts to create safe and empowering spaces for womyn in her community.
