Unpoliticizing Womyn’s Rights!

April 14, 2016

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Presented by: UIC Latino Cultural Center

Join Mexican Students de Aztlán (MeSA), Students for the Advancement of Freedom, Equality and Human Rights (SAFEHR), Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), and Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS) for the last Noche de Poetas (Poetry Night) of the spring semester.

OPEN MIC!

Don’t miss out on the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme Intersectional Justice during a time of political rhetoric.”

Leading the night will be our featured poet Mariel Rancel!

  • How are womyn reclaiming their rights as global citizens?
  • How can feminism lead to restorative justice?
  • What does Intersectional Justice look like for you?

Mariel Rancel is a second year UIC student and an e-board member of UPRS. For those that attend on a regular basis, Mariel has become a Noche favorite! She utilizes her experiences, both cultural and social, to give life and humor to her poetry, which she uses as a tool to empower herself and others through emotional remarks and heartfelt words.

All audiences are welcome to join us at this program. Captioning, ASL Interpretation and Audio-Description services will be available upon request by contacting the number above.
