Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center, the African American Cultural Center and Latino Association of Business Students (LABS) for an interactive presentation with Midwest Workers Association. Learn how this organization provides a space for socially conscious workers to fight and improve living and working conditions. The MWA organizes to put an end to policies that are keeping low-income workers in poverty and affect communities.
About Midwest Workers Association:
Service, temporary and other low-paid workers in the Chicago area have been joining together since 1996 to build Midwest Workers Association (MWA). MWA is an independent, all-volunteer membership association that can gain the strength to put an end to policies keeping us in poverty and destroying our communities.
Thanksgiving Food Drive:
Bring non-perishable food items for MWA’s Holiday Campaign and learn how you can participate in these historic efforts (1:30-5pm)
FOOD ITEMS NEEDED: Dried Beans (all types), Rice (Brown and White), Canned Meat (Chicken & Ham), Canned Beans, Pasta, Canned/bagged Nuts, Canned Cranberries/Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing Mix, Cake/Pumpkin Pie Mix, Pie Crusts, Canned vegetable & fruit, and ALSO FROZEN TURKEYS.
Don’t miss a chance to WIN 1 out of 5 National Labor Federation 2012 Calendar depicting paintings of US workers struggle! Copies of the book will also be sold at the event.
