Join us as 🔥 UIC alumna Dr. Lillian Gorman 🔥 discusses her book Zones of Encuentro: Language and Identities in Northern New Mexico.

📝 Working at the intersection of Latina/o/x cultural studies, sociocultural linguistics, and Chicana feminist studies, Gorman’s book takes an in-depth look at the cultural and linguistic interactions between two distinct Latine communities: Nuevomexicanos and first-generation Mexicano immigrants. Gorman examines the everyday lived language experiences and identities of Latinxs in New Mexico and discusses the notion of home among U.S. Latines.
📚 Dr. Lillian Gorman is Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona and Director of the Spanish as a Heritage Language Program.
