LARES Awarded 2014 Example of Excelencia Award
After a 2.7 percent point growth in Hispanic/Latino undergraduate enrollment over the last year, the UIC Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services program was recognized as the 2014 Example of Excelencia recipient through the nonprofit Excelencia in Education organization. Their mission is to accelerate Latino student success in higher education. “We are proud that our work on behalf of the students and the community we serve has gained distinction from national organizations,” said Hugo Teruel, director of LARES. “The recognition is vindication that we have a good program and provide innovative academic advising.”
