• Student Educator, Spring 2015 to Fall 2016

Ian Torres was a student educator at the LCC from Spring 2015 to Fall 2016. He was also a former intern for the LCC, and a student leader for the Heritage Garden program. Born in Puerto Rico, Ian migrated to Chicago with his family at age 12 to the Western Suburbs. Through his undergraduate years, he worked with organizations like Mexican Students de Aztlan (MeSA), the Fearless Undocumented Alliance (FUA), and the Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS). Through his involvement on campus and community organizations like the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, Ian developed a passion for social justice, cultural appreciation, and sustainability. Ian continued his work at the LCC through the Historias Monarca oral history project, and the Las Ganas STEM Dialogue programs.
