Where are you from? Where is home for you?
For more and more of us, the answers to these questions only inspire more questions. In this bilingual workshop, we will explore transborder identity, binational/transnational citizenship, and the legal, economic, and socio-cultural gaps between the two. Participants will craft their own border-crossing stories while learning from the testimonios of deported and returning youth in Mexico as featured in the book Los Otros Dreamers by Jill Anderson and Nin Solis.
Jill Anderson has a PhD in English with a specialization in U.S. American and Mexican-American literatures from the University of Texas in Austin. There, she has taught writing and rhetoric courses while working with the Worker’s Defense Project on behalf of the labor rights of immigrants. Anderson currently teaches at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, DF and collaborates with Dream in Mexico A.C. and L@s Otr@s Dreamers Collective as an independent researcher.
