Paloma Serrano

Masked Selfie of paloma against a blue floral background with the title

This is my favorite mask because of how I made it and the color it has. I didn’t make the actual material of the mask, but I used two hair ties to make it. I also folded the bandana to make it into a fitted mask. The mask shows that I’m concerned for not only my own health, but everyone else’s around me. Wearing any mask shows support to end the virus or at least to help and be safe.

Vulnerable communities have less access to healthcare, but by wearing a mask they avoid contacting the virus overall.

The COVID-19 Masking Project was developed by the UIC Latino Cultural Center (LCC) in partnership with the UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center (AARCC) to engage students, faculty, staff, and community members in a creative and meaningful way during the COVID-19 pandemic.
