How does sharing family recipes create a sense of identity and community?

The recipes became a part of our families culture and reminds us of the labor of love

It documents a history, the history of food, family, people and kinship which might not otherwise be kept. We are what we eat.

Tradition and unity are powerful thing food can create

Food makes meals and meals make men cries

Food’s the thing that makes belly cheer it fills dad with smile sweet pastry & Mom’s cookie sheet

Sharing recipes is choosing to share survived

Family recipes carry so much love that you can taste it, thus you become united by that food… unless it has a bitter taste.. Still good though

Food carries stories, traditions and parts of culture. The recipes hold family memories and a plethora of stories. They carry emotions of wonderful from holidays and celebration

A family’s recipe can say a lot about that family’s identity. Even when it’s the same food, different ingredients are used, creating a sense of individuality

Aside from language, food is your first exposure to your culture

Food, culture, community and family. All are the same food prepared with different spices

Meant to be shared, meant to taste, never to be devoured but savored

Food is precious and must be rushed just like a human life

The good food we eat fills us, giving us the strength to fill the universe with good vibes, creating the love for peace and family

There are so many ways that people make food. And if people come together with food there would be community

This unifies a community with the various tastes from different countries which gives us something to relate to each other with.

Family recipes form an identity when

Family recipes, like culture, se hereda from generation to generation. Showing a recipes entails spending time with mom or grandma learning how to cook, bonding, and appreciating what they do with love for us

I am what I eat. I am like my mother, like my grandmother. Our recipes have made it through generations of love!!
