Deporter-in-Chief Exhibit
UIC LALS grad student Gabriela Benitez, along with other organizers from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), shared personal stories about their experiences with deportation. This was part of ICIRR’s program held at the LCC that featured their exhibit-in-progress titled Deporter-In-Chief which examines President Obama’s record-breaking two million deportations and underscores the urgent need for executive action to stop deportations.
Art and pieces from past civil disobedience actions were displayed as part of the nearly-finished exhibit.
