POSTPONED ARTivism  – Share what you know: Drawing for Environmental Justice

September 28, 2022

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Green background and to the left of the page there is a hand drawn map of the McKinley Park and neighborhood. The map contains a soccer field, a pond, several houses, buildings, and three cars on the road going down the page. The artist's picture is small and next to a heart at the bottom of the map. She is wearing her hair in a tight bun, has hoop earrings, and is wearing red lipstick and a black blouse that shows a tattoo in the middle of her chest near her collar bones.

Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center

Join us for an open art studio with Delilah Salgado, Chicago artist.

Participants will create artwork that shares their personal stories about how they’ve responded to environmental and climate change issues affecting their lives. These mapping visual and narrative stories will contribute to a collective archive for the Climate and Environmental Justice Crossing Latinidades.

Delilah Salgado is a first generation Mexican-American multidisciplinary community based artist and co-founder of “Mujeres Mutantes”, an all women’s arts collective from Chicago, Illinois. Delilah attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied, painting, drawing, video and performance art. She is a wife and mother of three currently living in McKinley Park with roots in Gage Park, Little Village, and Pilsen. @artofzena
