Join us for a short film and conversation surrounding the 2020 San Isidro artist protests in Cuba. In November 2020, rapper Denis Solís was kidnapped by officers of the Cuban National Revolutionary Police Force and sentenced to eight months of imprisonment. In protest, a group of activists barricaded themselves inside the headquarters of the San Isidro organization to demand freedom for Solís and all Cubans.
During the program check out a curated selection of book titles related to the themes of the film available for UIC students, staff and faculty to check-out from the University Library’s Pop-Up Library!
Post-screening conversation facilitated by LALS Visiting Cuban Scholar Anamely Ramos González.
Post-film conversation is in Spanish with English subtitles. Conversation will be held primarily in Spanish, with English interpretation available.
This event is co-sponsored by the University Library and the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS).
