Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center for a series of virtual conversations with environmental and climate justice leaders this fall. Their work reveals frameworks and strategies to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental pollution on communities of color and low-income earners. Students in the Environmental & Climate Justice course* will facilitate the conversations.
Citlalli Trujillo serves as the President of Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization (PERRO). During her talk, she will highlight PERRO’s efforts to combat pollution from Sims Metal’s emissions in the Pilsen community. Citlalli will also share insights on PERRO’s latest project, which leverages stewardship and grassroots advocacy as powerful tools to ensure environmental accountability and justice in impacted communities while also revitalizing green spaces along the Pilsen Industrial Corridor.
