Climate of Inequalities
Fall 2023
Join the UIC Latino Cultural Center and the Social Justice Initiative for a series of virtual conversations with environmental and climate justice leaders from Chicago this fall. Their work reveals frameworks and strategies to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change and environmental pollution on communities of color, Black, Indigenous, and low-income earners. Students in the Environmental & Climate Justice course* will facilitate the conversations.
Oscar Sanchez is a dedicated community organizer and serves as the Southeast Environmental Task Force's Co-Executive Director with a proven track record in environmental justice, anti-violence advocacy, youth empowerment, and community planning. He will talk about the #StopGeneralIron campaign and the role that young people play in the environmental & climate justice movement now and into the future.
