OPEN MIC!
Don’t miss the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s them, “Syrian/Global refugee crisis and human rights.”
- What is a refugee?
- What does it mean to flee your home due to persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or war?
- What role do we play as citizens of the world?
- Did you know that every 15 seconds a Syrian becomes a refugee?
Leading the poetry will be our featured poet Jesus “Azteca 500” Sanchez. His music and poetry engages the issues of social justice and youth empowerment.
If you require any accommodations please contact us at least three days before the event.
Co-sponsors: UIC student organizations MeSA, SAFEHR, SJP, and UPRS.
