Food for Thought

February 12, 2015

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Presented by: UIC Latino Cultural Center

Join Mexican Students de Aztlán (MeSA), Students for the Advancement of Freedom, Equality and Human Rights (SAFEHR), Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), and Union of Puerto Rican Students (UPRS) for the first Noche de Poetas (Poetry Night) of the Spring 2015 semester.

OPEN MIC!

Don’t miss out on the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme “Unity: How food brings everyone together.”

Leading the night will be our featured poet Soraya Elzeibak!

  • What does “collective action” mean to you?
  • How does sharing family recipes create a sense of identity and community?

Soraya Elzeibak is a UIC student, poet, and activist who is currently studying philosophy and hoping to attend law school. Aspirations include running for office as an Illinois state Governor or US Senator, and has already started her presidential campaign for the year 2032. She has big dreams and nothing but time!

If you require any accommodations please contact us at least one week before the event.
