Presented by the Latino Cultural Center and the Black Cultural Center

Join us for a drop-in open studio as we listen to the first two episodes of the docuseries podcast Help This Garden Grow and make collages around themes of environmental justice!

Help This Garden Grow tells the story of Hazel Johnson, a resident of the far southeast side Chicago neighborhood Altgeld Gardens and founder of People for Community Recovery (PCR). Known as one of the “mothers of environmental justice,” we honor her this Earth Month through artmaking. We will create collages for environmental justice as we listen to the podcast and learn from a multi-generational conversation between organizers, policymakers, and land stewards. We will be joined by community organizers from People for Community Recovery (PCR).

*Materials will be provided.
