Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center and the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
Join the Latino Cultural Center and the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum for an interactive presentation with artist and activist Favianna Rodriguez. She will share her use of monarch butterflies as an artistic expression to convey the message of migration, transformation, and citizenship beyond legality.
Favianna Rodriguez is a transnational interdisciplinary artist and cultural organizer. In addition to her fine arts and community work, Rodriguez partners with social movement groups around the world to create art that is visionary, inspirational, radical, and most importantly, transformational.
Favianna Rodriguez appears as part of a weeklong series of events and workshops presented by the Chicago Public Library in partnership with the Jane Addams Hull House Museum. Related programs, as well as an exhibit of Rodriguez’s poster art at Harold Washington Library Center October 14 to March 30, are presented as part of the current One Book, One Chicago program, which explores how migration has shaped Chicago. One Book, One Chicago is presented by the City of Chicago, Chicago Public Library, Chicago Public Library Foundation and sponsors Allstate and BMO Harris. For more information visit onebookonechicago.org.
If you require any accommodations please contact us at least three days before the event.
Co-sponsors: UIC student organizations Fearless Undocumented Alliance (FUA), Heritage Garden Student Group, Lambda Theta Alpha, and United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS)
