Don’t miss out on the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme “Experiences of peoples of color in America.”
Leading the night will be our featured poets: Ayah Chehade and Alonnie White.
- How have you experienced policing?
- In what ways have you built support systems to address this issue on campus and/or your community?
Ayah Chehade is a senior at UIC studying English and International Studies. Ayah’s career aspirations include journalism, publishing a book of poetry, and one day having a position as a university professor. Her poetry primarily centers around identity politics, colonialism, women’s issues, and human rights.
Alonnie White is a fifth year undergraduate studying psychology, African American Studies and Social Science. She started to seriously pursue performing while working with Gallery 37 and the Cabrini Green Demolition Project. Her work focuses in current events affecting the African American community and social issues.
