The Homestretch

November 11, 2014

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Presented by: UIC Latino Cultural Center

Three homeless teenagers brave Chicago winters, the pressures of high school, and life alone on the streets to build a brighter future. Against all odds, they defy stereotypes and create new, surprising definitions of home. As their stories unfold, the film connects us deeply with larger issues of poverty, race, juvenile justice, immigration, foster care, and LGBTQ rights. Can they recover from the traumas of abandonment and homelessness and build the future they dream of?

  • Approx. 55min.

Screening followed by discussion facilitated by CPS teacher Maria Rivera featured in the film.
