UIC Peace Project Kick-off

September 8, 2015

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Presented by: Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change

  • What does peace look like to you and your community? Bring your creativity to chalk-it-out!

Join the Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC) for the UIC Peace Project kick-off, and participate in a chalk mural led by Jeff Maldonado Sr, co-founder of the J-DEF Peace Project. With the power of art and community, we can draw upon our diverse experiences and identities to build peace in our communities. Be part of our social media campaign by using the hashtag #UICPeaceProject!

The CCUSC includes the African-American Cultural Center, Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, Disability Resource Center, Gender & Sexuality Center, Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center, and Women’s Leadership and Resource Center.

The J-DEF Peace Project (JDPP) is a non-for-profit whose mission is to engage youth and the community at large on conflict resolution using creativity and imagination through multi-disciplinary arts to foster a peaceful community.

All audiences are welcome to join us at this event. If accessibility accommodations are needed, please email: drc@uic.edu
