15th Anniversary Celebration of Latinos in Chicago and the Midwest book series
On October 22 2019, the Latino Cultural Center hosted the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Latinos in Chicago and the Midwest book series. The event featured readings from authors of the Latinos in Chicago & the Midwest book series as well as a dialogue between the authors. Participants were able to fellowship with the authors and each other over various types of empanadas, vegetables, beverages and cake. Participants were riveted by the authors’ recounts of their upbringings and writing inspiration. Authors beamed with delight and passion as they connected with their readers. The event was free admission and all refreshments provided were free.
This program was presented by the Latino Cultural Center in collaboration with the UIC Latin American and Latino Studies Program, Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services, and University of Illinois Press.
