Baby Jails
On Wednesday February 7, the LCC hosted UIC alumna Virginia Martinez to discuss her experiences volunteering with the CARA Pro Bono Project at a family detention center in Dilly, Texas. She told stories of mothers and children who had been through awful challenges before being detained in awful conditions, while they seek help from volunteers to navigate the confusing legal system in search of asylum.
