Last Tuesday, October 10, 2017, the UIC Heritage Garden hosted their very first Harvest Fest entitled “The Seeds of Social Change”. At the event, the UIC community was invited to learn about seed collecting, to grow their own milkweed plants, and to go on a UIC garden tour. Students also had the chance to create personal tea blends and seed bombs and share cultural stories and recipes. As with many Heritage Garden events, the Harvest Fest reflected their mission of connecting gardening with social and environmental justice. The event was even featured on UIC Today.
