Heritage Garden Volunteer Day
On Wednesday, September 19th, the UIC Heritage Garden hosted their first Volunteer Day for the Fall 2018 semester. Participants, including UIC students, alumni, and community members, met up at the Latino Cultural Center, Lecture Center B2. After a quick introduction of the internship, they broke up into 3 groups for weeding/cleaning, harvesting, and watering. When the activity came to an end, participants went home with complimentary fresh herbs and produce along with new skills, connections, and knowledge regarding environmental sustainability, cultural diversity, and social justice.
