LALS Celebrates it’s 40th Anniversary

On October 29th, the UIC campus along with community members celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Latin American and Latino Studies Program – “From Vision to Legacy” at the National Museum of Mexican Art. The evening’s program featured several distinguished speakers that gave a historical overview of the development of the LALS program across four decades. The keynote speech was given by professor emeritus, Mary Kay Vaughan, one of the early LALS professors of the program who highlighted the contributions of late professor, Rafael Cintrón Ortiz.
