Students protest Homeland Security presence on campus
On November 15th, 2019, the LCC hosted UIC’s Fearless Undocumented Alliance (FUA) for an art making session in preparation to protest against Homeland Security Investigation recruiting students during UIC’s government career fair. The LCC provided FUA with conchas, coffee, and tea as they made informative posters that illustrated how HSI and ICE are connected, and generated as well as printed flyers illustrating HSI’s and ICE’s violent and inhumane tactics against immigrants. At the protest, FUA members informed many job fair participants about ICE and HSI, and how to protect and advocate for immigrants. Despite tensions from opposing views taking place, FUA stood firm in their message to inform students about the role of HSI and ICE.
