The Tree of Remembrance

The Tree of Remembrance with plaques dedicated to those whose lives were taken

The UIC Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change (CCUSC) and the UIC Heritage Garden dedicated the “Tree of Remembrance” to honor the victims whose lives of those killed recent acts of mass violence motivated by hate, including El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH, and Gilroy, CA.

During this gathering students, staff, and faculty expressed solidarity and the importance to stand by one another for the inclusion and equity of all identities.  We invite you to use #StopHateViolence. This hashtag will track people's responses to this violence and welcomes ideas for action.
