Transforming Waste Material into Art
This summer, the UIC Heritage Garden interns created bird sculptures out of waste plastic materials and tree branches for a “Birds of Migration” exhibit with local artist Alfonso “Piloto” Nieves Ruiz. The project continues to highlight the parallels between the migration of people, birds, and Monarch butterflies across national borders. You can check out the exhibit at the satellite gardens gardens around the East Campus at UIC!
