Unpacking Immigration & Disability Justice
On October 10th, 2019, the LCC hosted its first Zona Abierta of the semester.
Unpacking Immigration & Disability Justice featured speaker Katherine Pérez, Director of the Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy, and Innovation at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Throughout the presentation, Pérez explored the issues presented by Trump Era policies that make legal immigration nearly impossible for disabled folks. It also focused on the Eugenic practices of the 20th century and their lasting effects, as well as the intersections of racism, ableism, and xenophobia.
This program was presented in collaboration with the Disability Cultural Center (DCC). This program was co-sponsored by LARES and the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
