This is my favorite mask because it is indicative of the current moment when the country is struggling with social cohesion to combat COVID-19 and ensure that the most vulnerable populations are protected while voting rights face new threats. For me, voting is a personal act of resistance and in solidarity against all abusive powers to propel the promise of a future that is more just and more caring.
The COVID-19 Masking Project was developed by the UIC Latino Cultural Center (LCC) in partnership with the UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center (AARCC) to engage students, faculty, staff, and community members in a creative and meaningful way during the COVID-19 pandemic.
